CSUSB history professor publishes book on impact of Roe v. Wade and the reproductive movement in America

Alicia Gutierrez-Romine, associate professor of history, was one of the authors of a new book, “Roe v. Wade: 50 Years After.”
The book examines the history of the reproductive rights movement in America in the years after the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on Roe v. Wade on Jan. 22, 1973, which said that abortion was a protected constitutional right due to a woman’s right to privacy.
That decision was reversed by the Supreme Court on June 24, 2022, in its ruling in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case.
