The Do Good Volunteer Recognition Award, presented annually by the Office of Community Engagement (OCE) at Cal State San Bernardino, was given to 29 CSUSB students, seven staff and four faculty members for volunteering more than 25 hours toward their community from Dec. 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021.
There was a wide range of volunteer service projects, including growing and donating organic vegetables; virtual math and reading tutoring; and working in the front lines of vaccination clinics.
“OCE is tremendously proud of all the work done by our campus community,” the office said in its recent newsletter. “Despite so much unknown, one thing’s for sure: kindness has not been canceled. The CSUSB campus community continues to make positive impacts in our community and to those who need it most, even in the face of uncertainty.”
According to the Independent Sector, the 4,157 hours of volunteer service from the CSUSB campus community are valued at $139,716.
The Do Good Volunteer Recognition Awardees received exclusive OCE swag and a certificate signed by Diane Podolske, director of the OCE.
