Thinking about applying to earn your master's degree? The CSUSB MA in English and Writing Studies program offers graduate students a wealth of opportunities and possibilities. We offer five concentrations in Composition & Rhetoric, Applied Linguistics/TESL, and Literature, as well as two interdisciplinary concentrations in Pedagogy and Public and Professional Writing.
The many accomplishments of our alumni speak to our program's success in preparing students for a variety of careers, both academic and non-academic. Recent graduates are teaching at local high schools, community colleges, and universities, teaching English abroad, pursuing PhDs with full funding, and working as technical writers for organizations such as ESRI and Sage Publications. We take a holistic approach to our admissions process for the M.A. in English & Writing Studies. Your undergraduate GPA or standardized test scores do not define you and will not exclude you from consideration for our program. In fact, we do not use GRE scores in our admissions process. Instead, we consider a broad range of candidate qualities, including your personal attributes, past experiences, and future goals, and how those fit with our program and its values and objectives.

Cal State San Bernardino is less than an hour east of Los Angeles and half an hour from the San Bernardino Mountain resorts of Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear. Forty five minutes south brings you to the sandy beaches of Newport Beach and Huntington Beach. Disneyland® and Knotts Berry Farm are even closer.
Cal State San Bernardino is just 20 freeway minutes from the Ontario International Airport (ONT) and the popular Victoria Gardens shopping complex. We are conveniently located near the surrounding cities of Redlands, Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, Loma Linda and Colton. ESRI, Loma Linda University Medical Center, University of Redlands, and San Bernardino International Airport are virtually on the doorstep.
Directions
From Interstate 215 at University Parkway: Exit the freeway and travel one mile north/northeast to the end of University Parkway, which becomes the main entrance to CSUSB (at Northpark Blvd.). Ahead and to your left will be the Parking Services Information Booth.
