Jan Kottke, Director
Jan Kottke, Professor of Psychology, founded the nationally recognized master’s program in industrial organizational psychology at CSUSB. Her expertise includes personnel selection, training, organizational climate assessment, measurement, and statistical analyses. Students under her supervision have conducted applied projects that have, among other things, interpreted data collected by Gallup for a private national firm, developed interview protocols and performance appraisal instruments for the County of San Bernardino, conducted program evaluation for First 5 of San Bernardino, conducted job analyses for the San Bernardino Unified School District, and job audits for the County of Riverside. She herself has conducted data analyses for the state of California and consulted with clients such as the City of Los Angeles, Kaiser Steel, and Mt. San Jacinto Community College. In 2019, she was made a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, Division 2, Society for the Teaching of Psychology and in 2020, she was the recipient of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology Distinguished Teaching Contributions Award.

Izzy Diaz, CEOS Associate Director
Ismael Diaz is an Associate professor of Psychology who joined the department in 2015. His interests include statistics, measurement, employee attitudes, leadership, training, and employee development. He and his students have engaged in research and an applied project with a non-profit in the San Bernardino area. Working with the Boys and Girls Club of San Bernardino/Redlands, his students conducted employee interviews, developed and administered employee surveys, and developed detailed recommendations for the non-profit. Students conducted a contact and scope of work meeting with the client under Dr. Diaz’s supervision. He has also served as the statistics center coordinator, training and supervising graduate-level tutors in statistics. Students working in the statistics center have tutored undergraduate students, as well as assisted and guided graduate students in their data analysis and statistical analysis process. He was named a CSUSB Entrepreneurship fellow, securing funding for student-related professional development and entrepreneurial training.
