When you are ready to find adaptations for English Learners, go first to the stage of development that you are considering. The stages are Beginning, Early Intermediate, Intermediate, Early Advanced and Advanced.
You will find a definition and characteristic of the stage, then a list of ten to fifteen characteristics of the English learner at that stage. Identify a learner characteristic that matches the need of the English learner you want to help.
Next, click on that characteristic and you will find a list of adaptation strategies that will fit in most lessons.
Continue in this manner, moving to the other stages and learner characteristic that lead to adaptation strategies, until you have created a cohesive lesson.
