National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)
The stated purpose and mission of the organization in 1930 was “Unanimity of thought and action as far as possible in the conduct of Greek letter collegiate fraternities and sororities, and to consider problems of mutual interest to its member organizations.”
On May 10, 1930, the National Pan-Hellenic Council was founded at Howard University, in Washington, DC. The following were charter members of the organization: Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, Kappa Alpha Psi, and Omega Psi Phi.
Minority Serving Institutions - U.S. Department of the Interior
MSIs are institutions of higher education that serve minority populations. They are unique both in their missions and in their day-to-day operations. Some of these colleges and universities are located in remote regions of the country, whereas others serve urban neighborhoods. Some are only a few decades old, whereas others have been striving for more than a century to give their constituents the social and educational skills needed to overcome racial discrimination and limited economic opportunities.
Black Chamber of Commerce (Inland Empire)
The mission of the Black Chamber of Commerce: Inland Empire is to promote the economic development of a culturally diverse business community through networking, establishing business partnerships and education that reflect our community. We accomplish this with our forward-thinking philosophies and our consistent networking activities in Ontario, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Rialto.
These events range from social events to educational workshops that help businesses secure funding, retain employees and become more profitable, not only in the business’ own bottom line but for the greater good of our community.
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)
The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is to secure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights in order to eliminate race-based discrimination and ensure the health and well-being of all persons.
The vision of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is to ensure a society in which all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on race.
United Negro College Fund (UNCF)
UNCF envisions a nation where all Americans have equal access to a college education that prepares them for rich intellectual lives, competitive and fulfilling careers, engaged citizenship and service to our nation.
UNCF’s mission is to build a robust and nationally-recognized pipeline of under-represented students who, because of UNCF support, become highly-qualified college graduates and to ensure that our network of member institutions is a respected model of best practice in moving students to and through college.
National Archives (Black History)
Mission: ALIC, the Archives Library Information Center, exists to provide staff and researchers ready access to the background and context information necessary to describe, organize, and access the essential evidence in NARA records.
