Program Description
California State University, San Bernardino Army ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) is a college course designed to provide students with the necessary skills and leadership training to become Officers in the United States Army, the Army Reserve, or the Army National Guard.
Cadets develop maturity, responsibility, leadership skills, and self-confidence. The development of these skills will benefit Cadets for a lifetime.
The 4-year program
Army ROTC is a 4-year program. The first two years of the program comprise the Basic Course (MSI and MSII). You can enroll in the program for the first two years without incurring any future military obligation (if you don't have an ROTC scholarship).
After you've successfully completed the Basic Course, you can compete to gain admission into the Advanced Course (MSIII and MSIV).
As a Cadet in the Advanced Course, you will spend 30 days during the summer between your Junior and Senior year at Cadet Summer Training (CST). CST consists of utilizing skills you have learned through the program, such as tactile training, land navigation, map reading, and more.
After completion of the Army ROTC program, you will commision as a Second Lieutenant for the U.S. Army, with your choice of Active Duty, Reserve, or National Guard.
Green to Gold
The Green to Gold program seeks talented enlisted Soldiers who are considering to leave Active Duty to attend college.
Quality enlisted Soldiers, with Officer, will need to serve a minimum of two-years of Active Duty in order to request discharge from Active Duty, and enroll in Army ROTC to earn a Baccalaureate degree and commission as a Second Lieutenant.

Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP)
The Simultaneous Membership Program is available only to non-scholarship and Guaranteed Reserve Force Duty (GRFD) cadets accepted into the Advanced Course of Army ROTC. Only Army ROTC offers SMP. Cadets who choose to participate become members of the Army National Guard or the Army Reserve while participating in Army ROTC. These Cadets get to put the skills they have developed in Army ROTC to use in a real military unit as an Officer in Training. You will earn up to $200 a month for working just a weekend and also earn approximately $750 for two-weeks of work performed in the summer.
