Won an award for best working paper at the Society for Consumer Psychology 2020 annual conference
Marketing associate professor Melika Kordrostami received the award for her paper, "Sexual agency and advertising."
Dr. Kordrostami Wins Award For Best Working PaperMarketing associate professor Melika Kordrostami's teaching interests are centered on consumer behavior, research methods and digital marketing, and she implements high-impact practices and innovative teaching methods in her classes. In recognition of her excellence in teaching, she has been honored with several teaching awards, mini-grants and certifications. Moreover, Kordrostami has developed a Digital Marketing certificate program that is being offered through the College of Extended and Global Education.
Kordrostami received an award for best working paper at the Society for Consumer Psychology 2020 annual conference for her paper, "Sexual agency and advertising," which is co-authored with her sister, Elika Kordrostami, an associate professor of marketing at Rowan University.
Kordrostami, who has a Ph.D. in marketing from Iowa State University, teaches courses such as Marketing Principles and Consumer Behavior. Her great passion toward empowering women led her to focus her dissertation on female power portrayals in advertising. She won the best “Three Minutes Thesis Presentation” at Iowa State University.
She is also engaged in other research projects concerning consumer behavior, culture and consumption, emotion, and branding. Her research has been published in high impact marketing journals such as Journal of Marketing Management and Journal of Product and Brand Management.
