Members of the campus community, police department employees and members of the public are invited to offer comments about the department by calling (909) 537-4300 between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13.
CSUSB’s Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration, in collaboration with University Police Department and the Student Health Center, recently concluded the Annual Toy Drive, bringing in $7,000-$8,000 worth of toys – enough to fill a classroom. The toys were delivered to local nonprofit, Partners Against Violence.
The CSUSB University Police Department’s overarching mission is campus safety, and through the years it has grown to meet the demands of two campuses, with a combined 460 acres, 60 buildings, more than 18,000 students and nearly 2,000 faculty and staff members.
John Guttierez, a 32-year veteran law enforcement officer, who had been serving as interim chief, was chosen for the permanent post after a nationwide search.
The Community Service Officer Program at CSUSB’s University Police Department has served as a pipeline to careers in criminal justice, both as sworn and unsworn personnel. Former community service officers have also pursued careers working closely with law enforcement agencies or have gone on to practice law.
Cal State San Bernardino’s University Police Department will conduct an Active Shooter Preparedness Drill on Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 7 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. at around Jack H. Brown Hall.
The ceremony for the new police officers took place March 28 in the Santos Manuel Student Union.
