College Corps

California State University, San Bernardino Division of Student Affairs is proud to announce that its College Corps program will be recognized as part of the Inland Empire College Corps Consortium at the 2024 Toward a Shared Vision Awards, hosted by Growing Inland Achievement (GIA). The awards ceremony, which celebrates organizations and individuals advancing equitable educational attainment and economic success in the Inland Empire, will take place on October 8, 2024, at the Riverside Convention Center.

The Inland Empire College Corps Consortium has been selected for the Excellence in Regional Collaboration award. This honor highlights the consortium’s commitment to fostering partnerships and creating impactful opportunities for students across the region. The consortium includes community partners in the Inland Empire working together to promote community engagement, leadership development, and educational success through the College Corps initiative.

College Corps at CSUSB is part of a statewide initiative designed to cultivate a generation of civic-minded leaders, help low-income students graduate on time with less debt, and address societal challenges while building more equitable communities. The program provides students with the opportunity to engage in hands-on service, tackling issues such as climate change, education, and food insecurity, while developing critical leadership skills.

Dr. Oliverez, Vice President of CSUSB Division of Student Affairs, expressed her pride in the program’s acknowledgement, stating, “The recognition of the Inland Empire College Corps Consortium is a testament to the power of collaboration in addressing critical challenges in education and community development. At CSUSB, we are deeply committed to ensuring that our students are not only prepared to succeed academically but are also empowered to lead with purpose and make a meaningful impact.”

The Toward a Shared Vision Awards, an annual event organized by Growing Inland Achievement, celebrates the efforts of individuals and groups across the Inland Empire dedicated to improving educational outcomes and promoting economic mobility. This year’s awards dinner will bring together educators, community leaders, and stakeholders from across the region to highlight and recognize the vital work being done to create a brighter future for all.

The awards dinner will be followed by the two-day Toward a Shared Vision Summit, which will focus on addressing regional educational challenges and opportunities for collaboration.
