This summer, the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) helped welcome 4,301 new Yotes to campus with the Student Affairs Department Showcase that was held during Orientation at CSUSB on the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses.

While Student Affairs’ departments, administrators, and staff have participated in Orientation in previous years, this was the first year the Student Affairs Department Showcase was held. Orientation and First Year Experience oversee Orientation at the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses. Student Affairs partnered with the department to host the showcases.

All 25-plus departments in Student Affairs were represented at the First-Year Orientations in June and Transfer Orientations in July to share their resources, services, and provide information to students. Students connected with Student Affairs staff and paraprofessionals and learned about the programs and support available to them through the division. The Student Affairs Department Showcase created a greater awareness about the division and enhanced our presence on campus.

Orientation is a program for all newly admitted students and is their first real experience of life as a Coyote. It is designed to help students feel at home on campus and become familiar with the variety of programs, resources, and services available at CSUSB. Orientation supports and enhances students’ transition to Cal State San Bernardino by taking a holistic approach to student development and transition, with the ultimate goal of positively impacting student success.
