Monica Ybanez (she/her)
Current Status:
Graduate Student in the Department of Business Management
Public Speaking Experience:
My most recent experience was with Riverside County as an Employment Service Counselor provided me the ability to practice and perfect my ability to effectively and efficiently engage in public speaking. My peers and I would assist low income families become self sufficient through workshops that focused on their resumes, mock interviews, and oral communication skills. Prior to that, I worked as a store manager at GameStop, which required me to network and conduct training seminars for new hires.
Why I work for the Speaking Center at JHBC:
I carry a strong passion for education and teaching. After I obtain my MBA, I would like to become a college professor and help shape the minds of our future leaders. Working at the Speaking Center will allow me the opportunity to help students in their educational journey in a way that is similar to a professor.
My Consultant Philosophy:
I believe in a client centric and adaptable approach when conducting consultations. I understand that everyone has their own learning styles and preferences, so I will be sure to tailor my approach to better assist the client.
