Bio

I am a proud Latina and first-generation college graduate, now honored to be an educator. My academic journey has been shaped by the support and resilience of my family, who were the first to inspire my pursuit of higher education. As a first-generation Latina college student, I understand the challenges and triumphs that come with navigating academia, and I’m passionate about helping my students find their own paths to success. Outside the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family and enjoy cooking and reading. I believe in the power of community, both within academia and at home, and I’m excited to continue growing with my students and peers.

Teaching Philosophy:

My teaching philosophy aligns with the belief that each person constructs their understanding and knowledge of the world through personal experiences and their ability to reflect on those experiences. I believe that this is part of what makes each student and teacher unique. My approach to teaching builds upon this in that I use my own experiences to add value to my role as a teacher and connect the knowledge gained in the classroom with real-world experience. I view my role as a partnership with students, and while their education and success are important to me, it must also be equally important to them if our partnership is to succeed. I value being a teacher, and it is important that I have a positive impact in the classroom and help students believe in themselves and reach their potential.
