Bio

Michael Arteaga is the Interim Associate Director of Alumni Relations at California State University, San Bernardino(CSUSB). He is also a two-time graduate of CSUSB earning his BA in Business Management and MA in Communication Studies. Completed his Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership from Azusa Pacific University.

His dissertation titled Juntos Sobresalimos: Utilizing Alumni to Student Mentorship to Build a Community of Support for Latino Males in Higher Education. This action research project built a mentorship program for Latino Male Students supported by Alumni mentors that shared their navigational capital.  Students had positive outlooks following the program. 

He started his career as an event specialist supporting every type of event at the university. For the last five years, he has worked to develop ongoing engagement opportunities for alumni that support students including the Coyote Network mentoring program linking students and alumni. He also plays a key role in supporting the Alumni Chapters who all support the advancement of students and alumni. In his role, he keeps the importance of DEI at the forefront of his work.

Outside of the university, Michael volunteers his time through community service and mentorship programs. He has been part of the Puente program for over 10 years supporting students in their aspirations to attend a four-year institution after completing their time at community college. He is a strong believer in mentorship being the key to supporting our community and advancing the next generation. 

He has been an active member of his community. He has served as the Lt. Governor of the Kiwanis International Division 36 of the California/Nevada/Hawaii region. In addition to being a member of the Knights of Columbus. He serves as the advisor for the Latino Business Student Association.  Serves as a Board Member of the Inland Empire Future Leaders Program.
