Lindsey Nowland joined the Department of Kinesiology Fall 2024 as an Assistant Professor in Adapted Physical Education. Dr. Nowland received her Ph.D. in Health and Sport Pedagogy at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Her research interests center around enhancing the physical education experiences for students with disabilities. She is particularly interested in physical educators training to enhance self-efficacy in teaching students with disabilities in integrated classes with their nondisabled counterparts, as well as, exploring the physical education and activity experiences of individuals with disabilities. Dr. Nowland's recent research involved the development and validation of a scale designed to measure physical educators’ self-efficacy to teach students with disabilities across instructional placements for physical education. The information from this line of research aims to inform the training experiences of future physical educators in teaching students with disabilities.
