Daniel Ramon, a tenor and flutist, was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Mr. Ramon is a renowned, classically trained tenor with a beautifully versatile tone. He has the ability to produce a clear and straight tonal quality; additionally, he is gifted with a colorful operatic sound that is effortlessly pleasing to the ear.
Mr. Ramon is a professional singer in Southern California. He holds staff roster positions with the Pacific Chorale, Long Beach Camerata Singers. Auxiliary with Los Angeles Master Chorale and Los Angeles Opera. He has performed with conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Eckart Preu, John Alexander, Dr. Robert Istad, Dr. Lesley Leighton, Dr. James Bass Carl St. Clair, Dr. Ernest Katz. He has performed many master works such as Les Noces by Stravinsky. Symphony #2 (resurrection) by Gustav Mahler, Carmina Burana, Bernsteins' Chichester psalms, Beethoven's 9th Symphony. Many Requiems including, Brahms, Mozart, Fauré, Duruflé.
In Opera roles, Mr. Ramon recently played Gabriel von Eisenstein in Johann Strauss II Die Fledermaus. In 2023, he was the school master in Leoš Janáček Cunning little Vixen. In 2017, At CSUSB, under the direction of Dr. Stacey Fraser, and music director Dr. Alastair Edmonstone, He was Pedrito in Robert Xavier Rodriguez’ Monkey See, Monkey do. That same night, he performed the leading tenor role for Tango, a 25-minute, single-act opera for solo tenor and chamber ensemble which was also written by Rodriguez. Missy Mazzoli's Song from the Uproar, and King Kaspar in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors.
Mr. Ramon has worked with several Opera companies in Southern California. Including, Opera a la Carte, a Gilbert and Sullivan touring company, performing H.M.S Pinafore and The Pirates of Penzance and Mikado. With Pacific Symphony, Mr. Ramon was part of the chorus in many Opera productions such as Puccini's La Boheme, Verdi's Othello, Ravel's L' Enfant et Sortileges to name a few.
As a flutist, he was the winner of the 23rd annual Young Artist Competition at the Redlands Bowl where he performed Chaminade’s “Concertino”, the concert was aired on KVCR. He has performed with the Young Artist Orchestra of Los Angeles under the direction of Dr. Ernest Katz. In the orchestra pit, he has performed in many children theater companies in the Inland Empire. Playing stage productions of both “Man of La Mancha” and “South Pacific” at the California Theater in San Bernardino. He enjoys playing with his trio (flute, harp, cello) for many occasions.
He holds a Master of Music in voice performance from Bob Cole Conservatory of Music, California State University Long Beach. He studied voice under the tutilage of Dr. Katharin Rundus. He earned his Bachelor of Music at California State University San Bernardino, in voice performance. Studying under Dr. Stacey Fraser, and Dr. Lesley Leighton. He is thrilled to returned to CSUSB as a lecturer teaching voice and GE's to many aspiring musician students. He is also a lecturer at Rio Hondo college, teaching high school students a duel enrollment course for college credits.
