What advice would you give to new transfer students coming to CSUSB?
You're going to get a lot of emails from people at CSUSB who you don't know yet. Read them!! Those emails and those people are your gateway to something great! The transfer process was hard for me and as a Palm Desert Campus transfer student, I felt like there were things I was missing out on during the transfer process. So, I reached out to one of the persons who had been sending me those emails and I started a Transfer Student Success Club! With the help and guidance of some friends and amazing CSUSB staff, we are creating a welcoming environment for all current and future CSUSB Transfers! Happy to be a transfer Coyote!
What was the most challenging part of being a transfer student? How did you overcome it?
The most challenging part of being a transfer student was constantly feeling like I should be doing more. Seeing all the freshman orientation and events for incoming students had me questioning what there would be for transfer students. We did have our own orientation and welcome but I still felt that there was something missing. I soon realized that I was missing peer connections. I attended many Student Engagement zoom sessions hosted by the Transfer Student Success Center and that was when I was inspired to be a chartering member for a new club at CSUSB. One of our goals is to create an environment where all current and incoming transfers can feel immediate camaraderie. We are almost through the chartering process. Stay tuned for club announcements!
