What advice would you give to new transfer students coming to CSUSB?
Meet with peer advisors, network and make friends, connect with a faculty or student mentor, and get involved! Time flies :)
Why are you proud to be a transfer student? Provide highlights of your college career so far.
I’ve been able to experience different settings. I started at Riverside City College, it was big and intimidating. When I came to CSUSB I felt like professors started to see me and my potential. Just talking to them opened so many more doors and it makes me more grateful for my experience here and to graduate here.
What was the most challenging part of being a transfer student? How did you overcome it?
The most challenging part was just keeping up with everything! It can be overwhelming when there’s clubs you want to join, nerves, new campus, new people! But just trust that you’re here for a reason, I utilized Counseling and Psychological Services workshops on campus and took risks!
What were your reasons for transferring? Have you achieved your objectives?
I wanted to narrow my focus in my career and challenge myself. I found research and a mentor, the Psychology Honors Program, and friends, I feel pretty accomplished.
How has CSUSB helped you attain your academic and personal goals as a transfer student?
CSUSB opened doors for me that I may never have had opened elsewhere. I am more educated in my field, open-minded, excited for the future and confident in my abilities.
What is the best part of being a transfer student? What makes transfer students special?
We bring a different perspective. We liven and shake things up! :)
