The university will honor National Hispanic Heritage Month with a number of live and virtual events to celebrate the history, heritage, culture and contributions of Latino Americans.

The virtual event, co-hosted by the Mexican Consulate in San Bernardino, CSUSB, the university’s Latino Education & Advocacy Days project (LEAD) and Associated Students Inc., is the consulate’s official celebration of Mexican Independence Day for the inland region.

To celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, Cal State San Bernardino is hosting a number of events on campus and at its Palm Desert Campus through Oct. 15 to recognize the contributions, heritage and culture of Hispanics and Latino Americans.

About 500 people celebrated Mexican Independence Day at CSUSB on Sept. 15 with festivities that included cultural performances of music and dance, and featured the Mexican Consul with the ringing of a bell and cry for patriotism or “El Grito.”
