Cal State San Bernardino announces a dynamic lineup of events in honor of Women’s History Month, recognizing and celebrating the contributions of women in history, culture and society. Throughout March, students, faculty, staff and the public are invited to participate in a variety of in-person programs designed to educate, empower and inspire.
March 4 – Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW)
Time: noon-2 p.m.
Location: Santos Manuel Student Union (SMSU), North-Conference Center B
This powerful program will provide insight into the MMIW crisis, highlighting its historical context, root causes, and the impact on Indigenous communities in the U.S. Attendees will hear from a student presenter, four speakers sharing their lived experiences, and video content for a deeper understanding. The event will also include an interactive activity and trivia questions with prizes.
March 6 – Women’s History Month Mixer & Educational Poster Exhibit
Time: noon-2 p.m.
Location: Women’s Resource Center
Kicking off Women’s History Month, the Women’s Resource Center will host a mixer and educational poster exhibit honoring women’s rights movements across the globe. The event will feature treats, community-building activities, and guided discussions.
March 11 – Black Woman On Board: Claudia Hampton, the California State University and the Fight to Save Affirmative Action
Time: 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Location: Pfau Library 4005

Dr. Donna Nicol, associate dean for Personnel and Curriculum and professor of history at Cal State Long Beach, will discuss her book, “Black Woman on Board: Claudia Hampton, the California State University and the Fight to Save Affirmative Action.” The program will highlight the remarkable contributions of Dr. Claudia H. Hampton, the CSU system’s first Black woman trustee and first female board chair. A discussion, moderated by Dr. Francisca Afua Opoku-Boateng, assistant professor in cybersecurity, will be followed by a book signing and giveaway.
March 12 – Cafecito con Doctoras
Time: noon-1 p.m.
Location: SMSU, North-Latinx Center
Students will have the opportunity to engage with Doctora Lucero from UCLA in an intimate discussion about her educational and personal journey. Coffee and conchas will be provided.
March 17-20 – Social Justice Summit: From Hashtags to Action
Time: Varies
This summit explores the role of social media in modern activism, demonstrating how platforms like TikTok and Instagram are used to drive social change. The event encourages participants to harness digital tools to create meaningful impact.
March 24 – Women’s History Through Zines Workshop
Time: noon-1 p.m.
Location: Pfau Library, 1st floor, room 111
CSUSB Libraries will host a workshop on the history and cultural significance of zines — self-published booklets often used to share perspectives and ideas. Attendees will explore digitized zine collections and have the opportunity to create their own.
March 25 – Women & Femme of Color Storytelling and Advocacy Hour
San Bernardino Campus
Time: 3-5 p.m.
Location: SMSU North, Room A
Palm Desert Campus
Time: noon-1 p.m.
Location: PDC Campus
This event will feature a panel of women and femme leaders of color sharing their stories and advocacy journeys. Attendees will engage in discussions, connect with others, and enjoy a meal in a space designed to uplift and empower.
March 26 – Lead with the WRC: Leaders in Social Change Movements
Time: noon-1:30 p.m.
Location: Women’s Resource Center
The Women’s Resource Center presents the second installment of Lead with the WRC, focusing on the role of leadership in social change movements. Participants will explore the history of social change leaders and their own roles in advocacy and allyship.
