On Dec. 6, the Santos Manuel Student Union North Events Center at Cal State San Bernardino buzzed with energy and laughter as the student-run Coyote Comedy Fest took center stage. Organized by the students in the Advanced Entertainment Marketing Planning and Strategy class, the event not only showcased a lineup of talented comedians but also provided a hands-on learning opportunity for the students. The event welcomed 165 attendees, who enjoyed a night of humor and camaraderie. Proceeds from the evening, totaling over $2,200, will go toward student scholarships.

This year’s fest, aptly titled “Yotes and Giggles,” featured performances by local comedians Marquez Acuna, Jessica Rosas and Ace Guillen. Each performer brought their unique comedic flair, entertaining the audience with a mix of witty observations, playful anecdotes, and sharp satire.

The evening was hosted by Ralph Figueroa, a beloved figure on the CSUSB campus known for his role at the Veterans Success Center. Figueroa, no stranger to the comedy scene, brought his years of experience and infectious energy to the stage. His rapport with the audience set a welcoming and lighthearted tone, making him the perfect emcee for the event.

The experience was invaluable for the students in the Advanced Entertainment Marketing Planning and Strategy class, which is taught by Assistant Professor of Marketing Ari Kim at Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration. The course is designed to immerse students in the entertainment industry, offering practical, real-world applications of their marketing knowledge. Organizing the Coyote Comedy Fest gave them the opportunity to plan, promote and execute a professional event, bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry practice.
