Cal State San Bernardino hosted “Growing Philanthropy in Support of Your College,” a regional workshop designed to empower community college leaders and foundation board members to build sustainable philanthropic support for their institutions and communities. The event, held on Nov. 1 at the CSUSB Alumni Center, was organized by the CSUSB Philanthropic Foundation, in partnership with the Association of Governing Boards (AGB).

The forum featured keynote presentations by David Bass, executive director, Philanthropic Governance, Association of Governing Boards and Anne Paul King, executive director of Ventura College Foundation and president of the Network of California Community Foundations.

The workshop convened foundation directors and advancement professionals from various community colleges and foundations.  Participants explored actionable strategies for creating engaged, mission-aligned foundation boards, attracting major gifts, and fostering strong partnerships between college leaders and board members.

The event underscored CSUSB’s commitment to supporting educational advancement and partnerships with community colleges and building philanthropy throughout the Inland Empire and the Coachella Valley.

“By building stronger partnerships and effective boards, we are better positioned to secure philanthropic and state resources that will create lasting impacts on our institutions and the region as a whole,” said Robert J. Nava, vice president for University Advancement and executive director of the CSUSB Foundation.
