The Office of Academic Equity (OAE) at CSUSB’s Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration (JHBC) recently hosted its 7th annual JHBC ShEconomy event, drawing attendees eager to develop key skills for success in today’s competitive online landscape. Held on Oct. 24, this year’s event centered on the theme "The Synergy of Self-Advocacy, Confidence Building, and Personal Branding in the Digital Era," a timely topic given the increasing importance of digital presence and professional visibility. As a hybrid event, ShEconomy welcomed both in-person attendees at the Santos Manuel Student Union South and virtual participants via Zoom, making its message accessible to a broader audience.

ShEconomy kicked off with an engaging networking session, providing a platform for participants to connect and share insights. This was followed by an impactful presentation on the “State of the ShEconomy,” offering an in-depth look at how self-advocacy, confidence building and personal branding intersect and contribute to both personal and professional growth. The event culminated in a Q&A session with a panel of experts, allowing attendees to delve deeper into strategies for enhancing their professional and personal development in the digital space.

Francisca Beer, professor of accounting and finance and associate dean and director of the OAE at JHBC, reflected on the significance of the annual event.

“Every year, we celebrate women by organizing the JHBC OAE ShEconomy event, focusing exclusively on topics relevant to their empowerment and professional growth,” she said. “The synergy of self-advocacy, confidence building, and personal branding in the digital era offers a robust framework for individuals to assert their value, overcome obstacles with resilience, and establish a unique presence in their respective fields.”
