Cal State San Bernardino is making voting in the Nov. 5 election accessible for its students and the community, with rides to polling places on Lyft and hosting polls at both campuses on Election Day, Nov. 5.
To assist students with rides to places to vote, the university’s Office of Community Engagement is providing codes on the ride sharing service Lyft. Students can use the code now through Election Day. Each person will be able to use the code one time, for a free ride up to $20. Because it can only be used once per person, the Office of Community Engagement suggests that students “Ride with a Friend” or “Carpool to the Polls.”
This initiative was made possible thanks to the partnership of Students Learn Students Vote Coalition. For more information and to obtain the ride code, contact the Office of Community Engagement at contact leaveyourpawprint@csusb.edu.
Also, CSUSB’s campuses in San Bernardino (San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters) and Palm Desert (Riverside County Registrar of Voters) will serve as polling places for the Nov. 5 election. At both locations, polls will be open from 7 a.m.- 8 p.m. on Election Day.
Voters in San Bernardino County may cast their ballots at the Obershaw Dining Room, on the upper floor of the Alumni Center on Nov. 5. For those voting early, the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters has a ballot drop box at the University Parkway entrance to the campus, near the flag poles.
Voters in Riverside County will have four days – from Nov. 2-5 – to cast their ballots at the Indian Wells Theater lobby at the Palm Desert Campus. Prior to Election Day, Nov. 2-4, ballots will be accepted from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. There is no ballot drop box at the Palm Desert Campus.
A parking permit will not be required while voting on either campus, and there will be directional signs at the Palm Desert Campus with additional information about parking. In San Bernardino, parking will be available in lots D and C.
