Alumnus Alberto Jasso ’15, director of strategic philanthropy for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, was honored with the Emerging Leader Award for his positive impact in the CSUSB community and beyond at the 2024 Alumni Hall of Fame celebration. Jasso credits Cal State San Bernardino for giving him confidence and opening his eyes to endless possibilities.

As a student, Jasso was involved on campus, which helped him develop into a leader and the person he is today. He got his first job at CSUSB in the Santos Manual Student Union (SMSU). The role provided Jasso with hands-on experience and taught him the value of work. In addition, he went on to serve as the chair of the Board of Directors for the SMSU.

Jasso came from a community with limited opportunities, so he took advantage of all CSUSB had to offer. Growing up in a traditional Latino household, Jasso learned to act with integrity and be a person of his word values he still lives by. Jasso understands the importance of family and cultural values. He is proud of where he came from and that CSUSB is part of his story.
