Cal State San Bernardino has been named as one of the top colleges in the nation offering bachelor’s degrees in information technology according to Best Accredited Colleges.

CSUSB was ranked 13th out of 50 colleges and universities listed according to the website, which looked at four-year programs designed to teach students a broad set of skills and knowledge for the IT field. “Through a variety of course subjects, students can develop a foundational understanding of computing principles such as networking, operating systems, infrastructure, security, and more,” according to the website.   

To determine the rankings, Best Accredited Colleges considered hundreds of institutions around the country and ranked CSUSB for “using data around financial aid awards, the quality of education, faculty, campus resources, and more.”

The ranking took into consideration data and programs from the Information and Decision Sciences Department (IDS) housed in the Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration at CSUSB.

Shanthi Srinivas, interim dean of the college, said, “Information technology is one of the fastest growing areas that impacts just about every aspect of our lives. Jobs in areas related to information technology are projected to grow approximately 13 percent over the next 10 years. We are proud of the AACSB accredited educational opportunities and training that we provide in these related fields as recognized through this ranking. Our students are frequently sought after for internships and jobs and thanks to our dedicated faculty and staff, we will continue to help meet the industry demand for years to come.”

“Though this is an exciting achievement for the university and the college as a whole, this could have not been accomplished without the dedicated teamwork of our devoted IDS faculty and staff,” said department chair Jay Varzandeh. “The IDS department continues to excel in all areas and provides top quality education to our students in the ever-changing world of technology.”
