“Augie’s Pop of Kindness Day,” presented by the CSUSB Staff Council, will take place at from noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, on campus, with four locations.
This marks the third “Augie’s Pop of Kindness Day.” Even though many were working remotely last summer during the stay-at-home mandate due to the pandemic, the CSUSB Staff Council still held the day to remember Augie Hartung’s legacy of kindness, passing out popsicles for essential staff on campus and meeting up with others virtually.
Augie served as associate director of Facilities Services from 2001-2006 and exemplified the concept of caring and service through his thoughtful acts, such as handing out popsicles on hot days.
In 2006, the campus created the bi-annual “Augie Award” to honor his memory and celebrate those who best emulate the qualities Augie shared of being Affirming, Understanding, Giving, Inspirational and Exceptional.
To keep the kindness going, the Staff Council celebrates the Augie Pop of Kindness Day annually in August.
This year, popsicles will be available at four designated locations on campus: University Hall Plaza, north of the Administration building, between the College of Extended and Global Education and College of Education buildings, and outside Facilities.
