Cal State San Bernardino will offer additional courses and financial aid to encourage students to stay on track during summer session 2021. Summer session courses will be conducted virtually.

CSUSB will offer three summer sessions with the first 5-week and 10-week sessions beginning on June 2 and the second 5-week session beginning on July 8. Reverting back to three sessions will allow the students to take courses they need to stay on track after a shortened 2020 summer session due to the campus conversion to semesters.

Undergraduate fee is $325 per unit, Credential fee is $345 per unit and Graduate fee is $365 per unit. The summer session course schedule will be available on March 22 and registration begins April 12. Students are encouraged to register on time as classes will fill up quickly.

“We encourage our students to enroll and attend our 2021 summer session as they advance toward the completion of their degrees,” said CSUSB President Tomás D. Morales. “Our goal is to help our students, especially our graduating seniors, on graduating in a timely manner. CSUSB has dedicated substantial financial aid to help them save money.”

Along with offering additional courses this summer, CSUSB has allocated more than $4 million in additional financial aid, including funds toward the Graduation Initiative Grant for seniors graduating in summer 2021. Students are encouraged to reach out to their advisors in advance to see if they are ready to graduate this summer and take advantage of the Graduation Initiative Grant.

The mostly virtual format will offer courses both synchronously and asynchronously. This will allow students the flexibility of continuing with their studies without having to come to campus, ensuring their safety due to the ongoing pandemic and still allow for time to relax and enjoy their summer. The faculty, staff and administration will continue to provide all services to students while working remotely.  

“It’s been a challenging year, and summer is a great opportunity for students to catch up and make progress toward a degree.  To help students financially, CSUSB allocated additional financial aid that is not available in other terms,” said Tatiana Karmanova, dean of the CSUSB College of Extended and Global Education, which is administering summer session. “Not taking summer courses would be like leaving money on the table because the financial aid that the university allocated for this summer is in addition to what students receive during the year. Seniors graduating in the summer qualify for financial assistance even if they don’t have FAFSA.”
