The founder of the Teatro El Portazo, Pedro A. Franco Albuquerque, will host a workshop at Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday, Feb. 23.

Presented by the Acto Latino Theater Group, in collaboration with CSUSB’s College of Arts and Letters, the workshop will be conducted solely in Spanish and open to the public. The event will be held in the Santos Manuel Student Union Theater, room 107, from 5-6 p.m.

From the Cuban National Arts School, Franco was the 2015 award recipient of the Villanueva Critic’s Award show of the year for his play “CPP.” He has led courses, workshops and academic discussions in Cuba, Argentina, Spain and Venezuela.

One of Cuba’s newer generation of artists, Franco founded the Teatro El Portazo Company in the city of Matanzas, Cuba. He created a renewed scenic repertoire and meaningful dialogue between younger audiences and the new Cuban dramaturgy.
