Educational Talent Search at Cal State San Bernardino will host its annual Summer Kickoff event today, Monday, June 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the university’s Santos Manuel Student Union.

The Summer Kickoff is a day where local middle school and high school students come to the university to learn how to plan for college and to explore career and educational opportunities.

Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a resource fair, activities and games, and will receive a CSUSB campus tour. They will also get to hear about the experiences of first-generation college students during a student panel discussion. The event will also feature workshops for parents.

Educational Talent Search’s mission is to create a pathway for underrepresented students to pursue higher education by encouraging academic excellence, providing support and resources, and promoting college readiness in schools and communities.

Educational Talent Search, which is one of eight TRIO programs, is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and is designed to help middle and high school students continue to the next grade level, graduate high school, and enroll in and complete a college education. The educational program serves students from target schools in the Colton Joint, Rialto and San Bernardino City Unified school districts.
