As part of the university’s 50th Anniversary milestone, Cal State San Bernardino will offer a special free workshop for K-12 physical education teachers on Saturday, Nov. 7.

The workshop, which is collaboration with the CSUSB Kinesiology Department and the California Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the university’s Physical Education Building. Parking will be in the Parking Structure East located off North Campus Circle.

Attendees are encouraged to be dressed for physical activity. Coffee, snacks and lunch will be provided onsite. In addition, pens, paper and other goodies will be provided.

The workshop will offer sessions each focusing on activities and best practices that teachers can use at their schools, adapted physical education, meeting standards and much more. Presenters include Cal State San Bernardino faculty, local K-12 teachers and CAHPERD leadership. Tours of the CSUSB Kinesiology Department will also be provided.

The sessions are:

  • 9-9:50 a.m. – Practical Movement and Breathing for Students
  • 9-9:50 a.m. – Middle School Activities and Lesson Ideas
  • 10-10:50 a.m. – Elementary Activities/Lesson Ideas
  • 10-10:50 a.m. – Adapted Physical Education Activities
  • 11-11:50 a.m. – Student/Athlete Motivation
  • 11-11:50 a.m. – Adapted Physical Education and Common Core
  • Noon-12:50 p.m. – Best Practices for Teachers
  • Noon-12:50 p.m. – Lesson Ideas

The workshop will also provide an opportunity for teachers to network with other instructors, college faculty and future professionals and CAHPERD members. In addition, there will be discussions on increasing involvement and participation in CAHPERD and its local 404 Chapter. Attendees do not need to be a member of CAHPERD to attend.
