Cal State San Bernardino’s Career Center will be hosting a job fair for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department on Friday, May 20.

“This is a great opportunity for CSUSB students and alums who are seeking a position in Law Enforcement,” said Edgar Perez, employer relations coordinator for the career center. “They will be able to complete a months’ worth of the application process in one day. This is almost unheard of in the law enforcement industry.”

The sheriff’s department is hiring for deputy sheriff trainee, lateral and pre-service applicants. The event will allow attendees to apply, take the written test (for deputy and sheriff trainee positions only), and conduct the physical agility test.

The job fair will begin at 8 a.m. with a check-in table outside of Jack Brown Hall and another check-in table outside of University Hall. The schedule:

  • 8-9 a.m. - Check-in and orientation and application presentation in Jack Brown Hall rooms 109 and 111;
  • 9 a.m. - Written exam in Jack Brown Hall rooms 109 and 111;
  • 11 a.m. - Break and demonstration by the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department;
  • Noon - Physical agility test on the John Pfau Library lawn, athletic track;
  • 2–5 p.m. - Background interviews in University Hall room 329;
  • 2–5 p.m.- SBSD staff and applicant mixer in University Hall room 329; and
  • 5 p.m. – Conclusion of the event.

The free event is open to the public; parking will be available for applicants at Lot G, located off Coyote Drive and Northpark Boulevard.

To be eligible for a background interview, applicants must complete a background packet with a notarized waiver. This process typically takes months to complete. However, for this event, top applicants may complete this process in just one or two days.

To apply for the position or receive more information about the hiring event, visit the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Job website. After applying, all those who pre-register will receive a sheriff’s event bag upon check-in.

The mission of the Career Center is to support the career readiness of all students and alumni by providing advising, assessment, workshops, career events, employer networking opportunities, internships and job opportunities that result in the establishment or advancement of personalized career goals.
