More than $11,000 for student scholarships was presented from Coachella Valley Rotary Clubs to the Palm Desert Campus of Cal State San Bernardino.

The presentation, made on June 22, featured representatives from several of the Rotary Clubs as part of the Desert Rotary Scholarship Fund, a collaborative effort established last year involving all 16 Rotary Clubs in the Coachella Valley.

“Our goal is to provide assistance to local youth who are qualified to continue post-high school education and lack resources to do so,” said Ricardo Loretta, chair of the Desert Rotary Scholarship Fund.

“We want to assist those who might not be able to attend college without a scholarship, and are especially interested in helping students who want to pursue their college studies right here in the Coachella Valley,” Loretta said.

Located in beautiful Palm Desert, the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus offers bachelor and master’s degrees, a doctorate degree in educational leadership, and teacher credentials and certificates.

With more than 1,200 students, it is the only four-year public university in the Coachella Valley and plays a vital role in educating and training the region’s growing population.
