Vice President for Student Affairs Brian Haynes has announced that Morgan Walker has been appointed Cal State San Bernardino's interim director of athletics, effective immediately.
Walker joined the CSUSB athletics staff in 2008 as associate athletic director for compliance and internal operations. He was promoted to senior associate athletic director in December 2013.
Walker replaces Kevin Hatcher, who resigned last week after serving the last nine years in that capacity.
Walker has more than 15 years of experience in athletic administration with 12 years as a compliance professional.
His previous stints include appointments at UC San Diego, San Diego State, University of Texas, El Paso and Tulane University, where he served as the assistant provost for academics and compliance for four years.
Walker, a native of Phoenix, Ariz., received his bachelor's degree from Morningside (Iowa) College where he played NCAA Division II football and was an All-American in track and field.
He holds a master's degree in sports science with an emphasis in sports management from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Ala.
Haynes said a national search will begin later this summer or early fall.
