More than 8,500 students are expected tonight, Tuesday, Sept. 20, when Cal State San Bernardino’s Student Recreation and Wellness Center celebrates its annual Late Night, one of Welcome Week’s premier events.

Sponsored by the Associated Students Inc. and Santos Manuel Student Union, “Late Night” will take over the Rec Center, the Wilson Park area next to the center, and the basketball court from 7 p.m.-1 a.m. The first 750 participants will receive free food vouchers to use with participating food trucks. Free pizza, snow cones, and nachos will be available — first-come, first-serve — inside the Rec Center.

Late Night is open to the public, as long as guests are 18 years or older and accompanied by a CSUSB student. Complimentary parking will be available in lots G and H. CSUSB students must present their Coyote ID card; non-CSUSB students are encouraged to bring a valid California ID.

The event will feature “cosmic” climbing, silent disco, a zip line, inflatable games, sports tournaments and an all-night dance party.

This year students, will be able to give back to the campus community through a food drive, with all proceeds going to The DEN (Delivering Emergency Nourishment), the CSUSB food pantry for students. Students who bring at least two non-perishable food items will receive an exclusive event tank top.

Other giveaways to be handed out throughout the night include: CSUSB RecWell rally towels, lanyards, bracelets, shaker/blender bottles and light-up foam sticks.

Performances by the University Dance Company as well as the CSUSB Cheer and Dance team will also be taking place throughout the night near the Toyota booth, one of this year's event sponsors.

With more than 8,000 students in attendance at the 2015 event, “Late Night” has become the premiere Welcome Week event at CSUSB.

'This event was the best way to start the school year, and I'm looking forward to this year even more,' said Brandon Marquez, Rec Center membership services supervisor.

The Recreational and Wellness Department provides a variety of safe and enjoyable programs and facilities to meet the diverse needs of the CSUSB community by creating a healthy social environment, enriching the quality of life and enhancing the educational experience.
