Columnist quotes CSUSB professor in article about Spanish and overcoming fear and changeChicago TribuneJuly 26, 2018 Columnist Jerry Davich quoted Brian Levin, director of CSUSB’s Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism, in a column about language and overcoming fear and change in the U.S.: “Some Hispanics feel that President Donald Trump’s administration’s harsh rhetoric and tougher policies toward immigrants from Mexico and Central America have turned unwelcome glances toward speaking Spanish in public into open hostility, the story noted. “‘The bottom line is anti-immigrant sentiment is now a part of mainstream discourse,’ Brian Levin, director of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism, told the AP. “This is certainly true, including in Northwest Indiana.
