More than 470 Cal State San Bernardino students, first-year alumni, their families and friends participated in a special after-hours, 40-percent-discount shopping spree on professional business attire and accessories at JCPenney in San Bernardino on Oct. 14. The Suit-Up event was co-sponsored with the CSUSB Career Center. The students, alumni and their families and friends had the store, 300 Inland Center Drive, to themselves for discount shopping on career dress apparel, including suits, dresses, sports coats, dress pants, shoes and accessories, said Edgar Perez of the CSUSB Career Center. The students were offered everything they need to perfect their look for the next interview or new job, he said. The event also featured drawings of donated JCPenney gift cards, and the store raffled off two complete wardrobes, Perez said. Along with the clothing, Sephora offered mini makeup makeovers and free samples, and the JCPenney Hair Salon did free hairstyle consultations and mini haircare. Perez said the event went well and plans are being made to hold another Suit-Up in the spring for June Commencement.
