CSUSB report: Inland factory growth weakens for second straight monthThe Press-EnterpriseJan. 4, 2019 The Inland Empire’s manufacturing sector continued its two-year expansion in December, but the pace of growth slowed for the second straight month, a Cal State San Bernardino study shows. The Purchasing Managers Index, compiled from surveys sent to managers at about 30 factories in San Bernardino and Riverside counties, fell to 51.7 last month from 54.0 in November, CSUSB’s Institute of Applied Research reported. A reading above 50 indicates the sector is expanding, which has been the case for 24 straight months. In a statement, Barbara Sirotnik, director of the CSUSB institute, wrote there are numerous red flags for the national and global economies. She cited the lower consumer expectations, a trade war with China and a volatile stock market. “That said, the Inland Empire manufacturing sector is continuing the slow and steady growth it has enjoyed for two years, and the local economy is also growing,” Sirotnik wrote. Read the complete article at “Report: Inland factory growth weakens for second straight month.”

CSUSB professor comments on Trump’s assertions about U.S. foreign policy in IranPress TVJan. 7, 2018 David Yaghoubian, CSUSB professor of history, was interviewed  in reaction to President Trump’s recent statements on Iran, which an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman characterized as “false and impossible dreams” and “irrational and hate-inspired.” The president talked about the effect of U.S. sanctions on Iran and made assertions about the country’s influence in the Middle East. Yaghoubian said, “What we heard in his most recent, very bizarre grouping of statements was essentially neoconservative hysterics and cognitive dissonance. I believe this is born out of the fact that it is the United States that is failing across the board in its policies within the Middle East, and due to this fact and the tumult within the Trump administration regarding what to do about it. See the complete interview at “Iran: Trump stating his impossible dreams.” Press TV is a 24-hour English language news and documentary network affiliated with Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting.
