The Community Alert Patrol began in the aftermath of the 1965 Watts Rebellion. Armed with two-way radios and an intimate knowledge of their neighborhoods, CAP worked to monitor the racist LAPD. Using the 1965 rebellion and CAP as starting points, this conversation will address community-based efforts to resist police terror from the 1960s to the present day.
