Have you ever wondered what it is like to walk on Mars? Or perhaps to travel inside the human heart and watch it function? With immersive reality, the possibilities of bringing education to a new level are endless. Faculty Fellow of Immersive Learning at Sonoma State University, Dr. Sara Kassis, will share her experiences working with virtual reality, and other eXtended realities, in a two-part workshop.

  • Immersive learning: What is it? How do we use it? Between 10-11:30 am, participants will hear about the Immersive Learning@SSU program at Sonoma State University, in which faculty use virtual reality and other eXtended realities to help students envision, explore, and experience their course material in a different way. Participants will learn ways to explore this technology and discuss use cases.
  • Using immersive learning for engaging learners: Hands-on In the hands-on portion,12-2:00 pm, participants will learn to identify available educational software for 360-degree videos and virtual reality, align learning activities with learning objectives, and learn to develop instructions and assessments for classroom use.

A lunch buffet will be available at 12:00 pm. Please register so we can get an accurate count.
