Effective Bb Rubrics (Campus-wide)

In this workshop, we will discuss the role of rubrics for providing performance anchors and meaningful formative and summative feedback to students, as well as for assessing our own teaching methods. After examining the advantages and disadvantages of using grading rubrics and the process of rubric construction, we will work together to create three examples of rubrics useful for online teaching: a rubric for grading participation in an online discussion forum; a rubric for assessing the quality of a wiki page for online group work; and, a rubric for peer feedback on a final project. In the hands-on portion of this workshop, we will practice setting up the assignments above and creating their respective grading rubrics on Blackboard.
