Write Love Letters to Survivors for #SurvivorLoveLetter Campaign

February 9, 2017
10:00am - 4:00pm
SMSU OARC (Osher Adult Re-Entry Center - SMSU 111)

#SurvivorLoveLetter is a campaign started by activist and survivor Tani Ikeda as a way to give new meaning to the anniversary date of her sexual assault. She decided to start a campaign where survivors can write love letters to themselves and others and allies can write them to survivors in general or someone they know. The goal is to flood the internet with love for survivors on February 14th. CSUSB VOICE Peers will be working with the Osher Adult Re-Entry Center to provide letter making supplies Monday-Thursday the week of February 6th-9th.

Then on Monday, February 13th we will display all the letters and host an event at 12pm (room TBD) where we will learn how to be an ally to survivors and hear testimony from survivors. This is a "speak out", meaning anyone present who has survived domestic/dating violence, sexual assault or stalking is welcome to share their story. Feel free to prepare something or don't. Feel free to read your own letter or don't. If you want your story read but don't want to read it, email Marina.Wood@csusb.edu and she or a voice peer will read it for you. Finally, on the 14th we will post the letters on our Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #survivorloveletter
