Dear Members of the Campus and Greater Communities,

Please join the University Diversity Committee and the Pfau Library for a screening of13th, the Oscar-nominated documentary by filmmaker Ava DuVernay, on Monday February 27 from 2-4 in PL 5005. (See the trailer below.) Seating is limited so try to arrive early.

Netflix has made this extraordinary film available free of charge to community and campus groups for a limited time only.

DuVernay has been recognized for her critically acclaimed films, "Middle of Nowhere" (winner of the John Cassavetes Award), and "Selma," (nominated for an Oscar). She has now turned her attention  to what some call the prison industrial complex-- in a time when the US has experienced unprecedented incarceration of mostly nonviolent offenders, 97 percent of whom have had no trial.

At the end of the screening we hope to have a lively discussion facilitated by students, faculty and staff.
