Yosemite Winter Exploration

This is an excellent chance to visit California’s most popular national park in its winter glory, and the perfect time to visit the park without the crowds. We will set up base camp in our HEATED tent cabins in Curry Village and take side trips to visit waterfalls, explore the valley and take in some great vistas. At night you can choose to ice-skate under the stars or attend a ranger-led presentation. Monday we will say good-bye to the Valley and then snowshoe among Giant Sequoias. Yosemite is a winter wonderland!

Itinerary

Day 1: The trip begins Friday morning when all the participants meet at the SRWC at 8:00am and help the leaders pack up the gear. Once the gear is packed up, there will be a short introduction/ice breaker before hitting the road for a 366 mile, 6.5 hour drive to Yosemite National Park. We will stop for dinner (not provided) in Oakhurst and gas as needed. When we arrive at Curry village we will get settled in for a big day tomorrow. Then we chill for the rest of the night, play games, and hit the hay for the night.

Day 2: Saturday starts off with breakfast at 7:00am. We will then make our lunch at the hostel before heading off to Mist trail via the JMT you wille experience two of Yosemites famous waterfalls, Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls . Once we reach the peak we will stop and have our lunch on the trail. We return back to the van around 5:00pm and head back to the valley floor.  After exploring some of what Yosemite has to offer, we will eat dinner at Yosemite Lodge. after dinner we will head back to The bug and relax.

Day 3: Sunday, we will have breakfast at 7:00am.  we will take the shuttle over to the visitor’s center where you have the option to take a short hike to lower Yosemite Falls. Once everyone is done exploring the visitor’s center we will stop at Bridalveil Falls, tunnel view then head back to campus by 100pm. We will arrive at the SRWC by 1000pm. (Dinner is not provided, please bring money).

Full payment (cash, check, Visa or MasterCard) is due at time of reservation. For more information give us a call at 537-CAMP. Registration for trips and programs takes place in person at the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus Administrative Offices (RG203) during regular operating hours. Call 909-537-2348 for the campus phone outside RG203 to check availability and to complete registration information. After completing registration you will make full payment by cash, check or debit card (no credit cards) to the Administrative Office.
