Come join us for an unforgettable adventure to Redwood National Park. This park offers a variety of hiking trails that take you through various diverse environments; prairies, redwood forests, and beaches. Enjoy the drive through the national park with views of Tiger Lilies along the roadside with a hint of wild flowers. Walk among the beautiful Redwood Trees; the tallest trees on earth and oldest that have been around for 160 million years. Adventure will be spending four nights in Patrick’s Point Campground where we will take hikes exploring the fern canyon, elk meadows, and Gold Bluffs Beach. We will then spend one day exploring the Richardson Grove State Park taking a swim in the river among the beautiful redwoods. This trip will not only include the journey through the redwoods we will be taking a stop in San Francisco where we will explore some of the best attractions and be spending our last night before coming back to San Bernardino.

Itinerary

Day 1: We will be meeting at the SRWC at 8:00am to get ready for our 12 hour journey with stops along the way for meals and fuel fill ups! That night we will be arriving at night setting up camp at Patrick’s Point state park where we will be surrounded by gorgeous trees and just a walk away from the beautiful beach.

Day 2: With a long day ahead of us we will rise early for breakfast at Patrick’s point and prepare our lunch for the day. After breakfast we will take a scenic route to the Redwood National Park where we will enjoy a day hike stretching more than three miles (about 7.6 mile round trip) with views of redwoods, ferns, and if we are feeling ambitious a view of the coast. We after the trail filled day we will drive back to camp for dinner.

Day 3: Early rise this morning for breakfast and a morning trip to the Kuchel Visitor center to explore the exhibits, bookstore, and more. Then we will be off to the Trees of Mystery a nature attraction in the center of the Redwood National and State Parks. We will explore the trails, the museum, and ride the Sky Trail. After a day well spent at the Trees of Mystery we will call it a day and drive back to camp for dinner and s’mores by the fire.

Day 4: Waking up early for a hearty breakfast afterwards we will depart the campsite and head to another hike where we will be among the giants once again then we will make the rest of the day a beach day. We will relax by the beach and head back to our campsite for dinner and a warm fire to enjoy our last night in our campsite

Day 5: After four nights at Patrick’s point we will be changing the scene and begin our drive to Richardson grove (about 2 hour drive) through the scenic route on the Avenue of Giants. We will be making our first stop at Humboldt Redwoods to hike the Founders Grove Nature Loop (0.6 miles) to see the Founder’s Tree which is named in honor of the Save the Redwoods League and the Dyersville Giant; the fallen tree that was at one point the tallest tree in the world. Upon arrival to Richardson Grove Campground we will be setting up camp, enjoying some trails and taking a swim in the river.

Day 6: We’ll have an early start, maybe even a morning hike then off to San Francisco to spend the night in Fisherman’s Wharf hostel. The next morning, our adventure starts off with a bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge. After crossing the bridge we will explore the small beach town of Sausalito and enjoy lunch there. Afterwards we will take the ferry across to the Ferry Building. We will spend the afternoon exploring some of San Francisco Attractions including the Filbert Steps and Coit Tower.

Day 7: On our final day we will go to Haight Ashbury and explore what was once the start of the Hippie Era. After we will depart to CSUSB arriving at 10pm.

Weather

Food
15 meals are included, starting with breakfast on on day 2 (6 breakfast, 5 lunches, and 4 dinners)
5 meal are not included (2 lunches and 3 dinners). Bring money. 

Hygiene and Comfort

We will be staying in reserved campsites. The campsites are within close proximity to vault toilets and there are NO showers. We will treat water from a nearby spring or bring enough water from CSUSB. You will have the option to share a tent with one or two people or sleep out under the cover of the stars.  Light weight tents, warm synthetic sleeping bags, foam pads and ground tarps will be provided to ensure a comfortable night’s sleep. The ground consists of soft soil.
