The stunning White Chief Trail located in the Sequoia National Forest runs along the western side of the majestic Mineral King Valley to an old abandoned mine site. The trail begins at the Eagle/Mosquito Trailhead and follows the same path as the Mosquito and Eagle Lakes Trails. The 2.9 mile one-way trail to the White Chief mine is a steep but scenic hike up the west side of the Mineral King Valley. During this 3-day, 2-night backpacking trip we will experience views like nothing scene before. Please join CSUSB Adventure on this unforgettable backpacking adventure to a truly beautiful place.

Itinerary
Day 1: We will meet up at SRWC at noon pack up all gear and head to Cold Springs Campground (5 hrs. 278 mi) which is in Sequoia National Park. We will stop for lunch and gas as needed. Arriving at our campsite at 7:00pm, set up camp and get some good rest for the following adventures.

Day 2: We will start early waking up to eat breakfast at 7:00am and starting our adventure on the Mosquito/ Eagle Lake trails. We will arrive at our campground later that day and set up camp then adventure some more. White Chief Bowl and White Chief Lake. Head back to the campsite and make dinner then get some rest.

Day 3: Waking up early to eat a hearty breakfast at 7:00am, and we will start our way back down the mountain. We will be going around a lot of caves and sinkholes! Arriving at the van around 3pm, then heading back to CSUSB. We will stop by for dinner along the way and getting to CSUSB at 10:00pm.


 
Weather

Food
5 meals are included, starting with breakfast on day 2 (2 breakfast, 2 lunch, and 1 dinner)
2 meals are not included (dinner on day 1 and dinner on day 2). Bring money. 

Hygiene and Comfort
Vault toilets are available at some trail heads or we will use Leave No Trace methods to dispose of trash and human waste. You will have the option to share a tent with one or two people or sleep out under the cover of the stars.  Light weight tents, warm synthetic sleeping bags, foam pads and ground tarps will be provided to ensure a comfortable night’s sleep. The ground consists of soft to hard soil.
