CANCELLED - Santa Rosa Plateau Hike
April 11, 2019
8:00am - 6:00pm
Santa Rosa Plateau
Join us on this colorful hike where we will view flowers such as the California Poppies. Our destination will be the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve, located at the southern end of the Santa Ana Mountains. The Reserve consists of 8,300 acres and protects unique ecosystems like Engelmann oak woodlands, riparian wetlands, coastal sage scrub, chaparral, bunchgrass prarie and vernal pools. We’ll start the morning by meeting at the SRWC to issue gear and pack before hitting the road. Our day will consist of hiking on the plateau and spotting as many species of flowers as we can find. We will visit the oldest standing abode structures in Riverside County that once served as bunkhouses for cowboys dating back to 1846. We’ll have lunch (not provided) at the adobe in the shade of tall trees. As the day progresses we may see some of the plateau’s wildlife and other sights. We will return to the van and stop for a quick snack before heading home.
