Denim Day & The Clothesline Project

Denim Day & The Clothesline Project

April 24, 2019
10:00am - 2:00pm
outside the SMSU
Denim Day is a campaign to prevent sexual violence through education and public awareness, and to WEAR JEANS for a purpose. The origin of Denim Day comes from a case in Italy in 1992 when a rapist's conviction was overturned because he claimed she must have consented because her jeans were so tight she had to have helped to take them off. At CSUSB we encourage everyone to wear jeans to protest victim blaming and take a picture using the hashtag #DenimDayCSUSB. Come to the Library Lawn to see a jeans display and have your photo taken. The Clothesline Project will also be displayed which allows allies to bear witness to art created by survivors.
