Mountain Chickadee

The Mountain Chickadee is an uncommon fall and winter visitor to campus from September through March. It is a common bird in the mountains of southern California, and an uncommon fall and winter visitor in the lowlands.

High Count: 7, Average Count: 2-4

Mountain Chickadees have a white cheek and supercilium (line above the eye), black crown, eye line, and chin and throat, with the remainder of their body plumage pale gray. They can be identified by their familiar call, a raspy 'chick-a-dee-dee.'
