The Horned Lark is a rare visitor on campus and may occur at any time of year. Flocks occasionally occur on the athletic fields or surrounding patches of bare dirt. It is a common breeder in the deserts and a common migrant and wintering bird throughout southern California.
High Count: 100, Average Count: 25-50
The Horned Lark can be identified by its brown upperparts, white underparts, and distinct black and white-striped head with yellow throat.
